Olympia and Macedonia:
Games, Gymnasia, and Politics

 

This is a lecture by Thomas F. Scanlon in which the evidence is presented for the various roles played by Macedonians in the ancient panhellenic games, especially but not exclusively those at Olympia. Since only Greeks could participate in those games, it follows that the Macedonians were Greek.
